All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible.    T. E. Lawrence (1888 - 1935), "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom"

Wearing a Kittel at the Seder PDF Print E-mail

Question:

Should one who follows Minhag Eretz Israel wear a 'Kittel' at the Pesah Seder?

Answer:

  1. I can think of no reason to wear a 'Kittel' at any time during the year.
  2. On Yom Tov one should wear one's finest clothing - see Rambam's MT Yom Tov 6:15 and Shabath 30:3. If this is too uncomfortable, one can wear whatever is appropriate. The main thing is that one's attire on Shabath and Yom Tov should be noticably different and finer than during the week.
